CLASS D ROAD EXAM

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Northern Industrial Training, LLC is a approved third-party test provider for the state of Alaska for class D vehicles. The exam is given by an Alaska Division of Motor Vehicles Certified Examiner.

CURRICULUM

The State of Alaska Driver Manual describes all of the skills required to pass the road exam. It is recommended that you review the manual before taking an exam. The Driver Manual can be found online at: https://dmv.alaska.gov/media/t5ef5vi2/dlman.pdf

CERTIFICATIONS OR CERTIFICATES

Upon successful completion, students have the opportunity to obtain a Driver’s License. This will be available at any Alaskan DMV for 1 year after completion.

FORMAT OF EXAM

30 minutes

The test includes basic maneuvers (including parallel parking) as well as public road driving.

PREREQUISITES FOR ENROLLMENT

  • 16 Years of age or older
  • Permit held for a minimum of 6 months (unless over 18)
  • No traffic law violations within the past 6 months

COURSE COST

Applicant Vehicle: $65
NIT Vehicle: $85
It is the applicant’s responsibility to secure funding or provide payment for any training-related costs. Licensing fees are collected by DMV and are not part of tuition.

Class D vehicles are available for road exam use. An applicant may provide their own vehicle as long as it meets the standards set by the DMV for road exams. Proof of current insurance and vehicle registration is required.
