NIT is now offering Electrical for High School.

Program Description:

NIT’s electrical program focuses on building entry-level skills in electrical systems. High school & homeschool students are introduced to safety precautions when working with electricity, as well as a foundational understanding of electrical circuits, theory & practice. Instruction focuses on real-world applications, emphasizing residential electrical work.

Tuition Breakdown

Each course is eight weeks in length, and tuition cost is $500 per course.

Electrical I

Students will study & put to practice in hands-on practicals the foundations of the electrical trade. This will begin with a thorough overview of the safety practices that underpin all electrical work, including appropriate PPE, precautions, & procedures. Participants will acquire a thorough understanding of the tools essential to the electrical trade, developing functional fluency in measurement tools, hand tools, & power tools. Moreover, students will hone their abilities to interpret & comprehend technical plans, acquiring the skills necessary to read & understand electrical diagrams & blueprints.. The course progresses into the practical realm, with a focus on the preparation & planning of residential circuits. Through hands-on exercises, students will engage in wiring techniques, installation of switches, outlets, & various electrical equipment. By applying theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios, participants will gain proficiency in executing residential electrical installations with precision & confidence.

Electrical II

Building upon the foundational knowledge gained in previous coursework, this advanced course in residential electrical wiring equips students with the skills & expertise necessary to excel in the field. Safety remains paramount, with continued emphasis on comprehensive safety protocols for working with electricity, ensuring the well-being of both individuals & properties. Participants will further examine the intricate requirements for electrical installations, focusing on installing boxes, lighting fixtures, devices, & cable with precision & efficiency. Through hands-on instruction & practical exercises, students will develop a functional understanding of installation techniques, learning to navigate the complexities of residential wiring projects & trimming out service panels with confidence. Instruction also focuses on the essential aspects of maintenance & troubleshooting of residential electrical systems, empowering students to identify & address issues effectively. Finally, participants will be introduced to green wiring techniques, exploring innovative approaches to residential electrical installations that prioritize energy efficiency & sustainability. Upon completion of this course, students will emerge with knowledge, skills, & confidence in their abilities.

Our courses meet the requirements for credit & can qualify for credit transfer as shown below. Please note - transfer of credit is always at the discretion of the receiving school.
