High School Welding II
(Structural Shielded Metal Arc Welding)

Building upon the foundational knowledge acquired in Welding I, this advanced course in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) empowers students to further enhance their skills & explore new applications in the field. Participants will engage in a comprehensive review of shop awareness & safety precautions specific to SMAW, ensuring a thorough understanding of safety protocols.

Students examine the intricacies of advanced SMAW processes & equipment, earning the knowledge & proficiency necessary to tackle complex welding projects with confidence. Key variables influencing weld quality will be examined in detail, providing insights into optimizing welding parameters to achieve superior results.

Participants will explore advanced inspection techniques to ensure stringent quality control throughout the welding process. Further investigations into weld size & profile, carbon arc cutting, & gouging techniques will expand students' skill sets, enabling them to tackle diverse welding challenges with precision & finesse.

Skill-building exercises will encompass all welding positions on varying thicknesses of mild steel, ranging from 3/8” to 1”, allowing students to hone their abilities & master SMAW techniques across a wide spectrum of applications.

Our courses meet the requirements for credit & can qualify for credit transfer as shown below. Please note - transfer of credit is always at the discretion of the receiving school.
